Sky Road

Short Atlantic loop above Clifden Bay, with some of Connemara's best roadside views

The Sky Road is a narrow loop west of Clifden that climbs onto the Kingstown Peninsula and looks back over Clifden Bay, offshore islands and broken Atlantic pasture. The upper road is the one you want for views; the lower road keeps closer to the water.

Drive it slowly, cycle it if the wind is kind, or walk a shorter stretch from town. The viewpoint is especially good late in the day, when the low sun catches the islands and the water below.
