Letterfrack Industrial School Site

The former Letterfrack Industrial School site is not an easy sight, but it matters. The Christian Brothers ran the school from the late 19th century until 1974, and the abuse uncovered there became part of Ireland's wider reckoning with institutional cruelty.

Today the area is partly occupied by education and community uses, including furniture and design training. It is not a conventional attraction, and there is no need to linger, but knowing the story changes the way the village reads.
