Omey Strand is the island's first event: a broad, pale sweep of sand that appears at low tide and forms the marked route from Claddaghduff. Walking across is more memorable than driving, because you feel the scale of the exposed seabed and the temporary nature of the road.
Do not improvise here. Follow the markers, check tide times before leaving, and leave enough margin to get back to the mainland before the sea returns.
