The city's local-history museum in Fitzgerald's Park, on the west side of the centre. Collections cover Cork's prehistory, the silver industry of the eighteenth century, the city's role in the Irish War of Independence, and a strong civic-history section. The park itself, with its lawns, ornamental gardens, and the riverside walk, is one of central Cork's best green spaces. Free entry.
