Tory Island Lighthouse

Working 19th-century lighthouse on Tory's western end, automated but still a fine walk.

Tory Island Lighthouse stands at the western end of the island, built from 1828 and first lit in 1832. It was automated in 1990 and remains a working aid to navigation, with a white band around the tower and long Atlantic views in every direction.

The lighthouse is not usually the island's headline sight, but the walk out helps you understand Tory's scale: narrow, exposed, inhabited, and surrounded by water that decides the timetable.
