Turas Cholmcille

Turas Cholmcille is the old pilgrimage route through Gleann Cholm Cille, linking 15 stations across the valley. The stations include standing stones, cairns, cross slabs, wells, and church sites, some Christian and some almost certainly older in origin. Locals still walk the Turas around Saint Colm Cille's day in June.

For visitors, it is less a marked tourist trail than a way to understand why the valley mattered. Go with a local map, guide, or someone who knows the stations; otherwise you will miss the order and meaning of the stones. Even a partial walk gives the glen a depth that a quick scenic stop does not.
