Skerries Harbour is the heart of the town — a small working fishing harbour where coloured boats bob in the basin and the view stretches out to the three offshore islands: Shenick's, St. Patrick's, and Colt. The harbour is lined with a few seafood restaurants and has a calm, genuinely maritime quality that distinguishes Skerries from the commuter towns to the south.
The harbour wall makes a good walk on any weather. In summer, kayak tours depart from here to paddle around the offshore islands, visiting the seals on Shenick's and landing on the stone flats at low tide. The harbour is also the departure point for occasional boat trips to St. Patrick's Island, where the ruins of a medieval monastery are said to mark the saint's first landfall in Ireland.
