Aherne's is Youghal's best-known restaurant, a family-run seafood institution on North Main Street that has been drawing visitors for decades. The kitchen keeps it classical — Ballycotton crab, local lobster, grilled sole — and the quality of the raw material does most of the work. The atmosphere is comfortable without being stiff, the kind of place where you can settle in for the evening.
The adjoining bar does good food as well at lower prices. Worth booking ahead at weekends in summer, when the town fills with day trippers from Cork and Waterford. North Main Street, open daily for lunch and dinner.
