Youghal Lighthouse

A white 19th-century lighthouse on Youghal's seafront, still marking the harbour entrance

Youghal Lighthouse stands at the edge of the town where the seafront opens toward the harbour mouth. The current white tower dates from the 19th century, though lights have marked this coast for much longer.

It is an easy addition to a walk along the Front Strand or the old town walls. The lighthouse is compact and practical rather than grand, but it gives Youghal a clear maritime punctuation mark.
