Spiaggia del Fornillo

Positano's second beach, about ten minutes' walk west from Spiaggia Grande along a footpath that clings to the cliff face, is quieter and more local than the main beach. Part of it is free, the rest operated by a couple of relaxed lido bars. The rocks on either side are good for snorkelling.

Getting there requires a cliff walk that offers some of the town's best views — the path cuts through tunnels and past old sea towers. The beach itself is smaller than Spiaggia Grande and slightly more sheltered. There are a couple of bars and restaurants right on the beach, with tables practically in the water.

A story
Fornillo was traditionally the fishermen's beach while the main beach served the town. That distinction is less sharp now, but it retains a more local character than Spiaggia Grande, and the walk to get there along the cliff path is worth the trip alone.
