Walk to Nocelle

The walk from Positano up to Nocelle, a small village perched on the ridge above the town, is one of the best hikes on the Amalfi Coast. The path climbs steeply through the town and then becomes the Sentiero degli Dei — the Path of the Gods — a trail that traverses the ridge of the Monti Lattari with panoramic views over the entire coastline.

The walk to Nocelle takes about two hours from the lower town, depending on how often you stop to look out at the sea. From Nocelle you can continue along the ridge to Praiano or descend to Bomerano and catch a bus. Nocelle itself has a small bar and a restaurant with one of the finest views on the coast.

A story
Nocelle has fewer than 100 permanent residents and is only accessible by foot or the seasonal shuttle. The walk up on the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) is widely considered the finest coastal walk in Italy — on a clear day you can see Capri floating to the west and the coast curving toward Salerno to the east.
