The lighthouse at the southern tip of the Monte Circeo promontory, built in 1865 and still operational, marking the headland for coastal shipping. It is a destination in its own right — reachable on foot from the village via a trail through national park forest, or by boat from the harbour. The walk takes about ninety minutes each way and passes through dense holm oak before emerging at the wind-scoured cliff edge.
The views from the lighthouse are the best on the promontory: south across open sea toward the Pontine Islands (Ponza is clearly visible on clear days, about 30 kilometres offshore), and north along the coast toward Sabaudia and the coastal lagoons. The lighthouse itself cannot be entered, but the surrounding cliffs and the sea below give the place a properly remote character, surprising given how close Rome is.
