Villa Aguet

A historic villa in the upper part of San Felice Circeo, built in the early 20th century during the period when the Pontine coast began to attract wealthy Romans as a summer retreat. The villa's gardens, partially open to the public, are planted with Mediterranean species suited to the coastal microclimate — rosemary, myrtle, cistus — and the upper terraces give a good view down to the Porto di Circeo and the sea.

The immediate surroundings of the old town have a number of villas of similar vintage, built when the coast was still relatively undeveloped. The architectural character of the hilltop village — narrow lanes, stone walls, small piazzas — contrasts sharply with the more recent beach resort buildings lower down.
