The Civic Museum occupies the 19th-century Villa Ardissone in the centre of Diano Marina and holds a collection of pre-Roman and Roman artefacts found in the surrounding area. The finds document a settlement history that stretches back to the Ligurian tribes and through the Roman period, when this coastal strip was an important trading route between Gaul and Italy.
The collection is modest in size but well-displayed, and includes pottery, coins, grave goods, and items relating to the local olive oil and fishing trades that have defined the area since antiquity. It makes for a good rainy-day option, and the villa itself — with its shaded garden — is pleasant regardless of the exhibits.
