Diano Marina Beach

Diano Marina is the coastal town at the bottom of the hill from Diano San Pietro — a 3-kilometre drive or a direct descent on foot through the olive groves. The town has a long sandy beach, one of the better beaches on this stretch of the Ligurian Riviera, with calm water sheltered from westerly swells. The beach is lined with the ubiquitous Italian beach clubs (stabilimenti balneari) that charge for sunbeds and umbrellas, but there are free sections at either end.

The town itself is an unremarkable Riviera resort with a seafront promenade and a reasonable restaurant scene. The fish restaurants near the small harbour are the best option. Diano Marina has a train station on the coastal line, making it easy to reach from Imperia, San Remo, or Genoa without a car.
