Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate

The parish church of Sant'Antonio Abate is the principal religious building in the Borgo, a baroque rework of an older medieval structure, with a tall bell tower visible from the bridge. The interior is sober — pale plaster, an eighteenth-century altarpiece by Maraglio, and a side panel of the Madonna and saints by the Niçois Renaissance painter Ludovico Brea.

The square in front of the church is where most of Dolceacqua's festivals begin, including the bonfire procession of Sant'Antonio in January, when the locals carry torches up the alleys to the castle.
