Parish Church of Santa Caterina

The parish church of Santa Caterina, with its late-medieval campanile, stands at the centre of the village opposite the oratory of San Giovanni. The campanile is the most visible landmark of Erli from the surrounding hills. The church interior has been modified over the centuries and is less remarkable than the nearby San Martino frescoes, but the exterior ensemble with the oratory and the surrounding stone buildings gives a good picture of how a Ligurian hill village looked in the early modern period.

The church square is the natural gathering point of the village and the best place to get an orientation before exploring the surrounding lanes and the Borgo dei Bassi.
