Calata Cuneo

Oneglia's harbour promenade with restaurants, fishing boats, and the port market

Calata Cuneo is the main quayside in Oneglia, running along the working port with fishing boats moored on one side and a line of restaurants and bars on the other. It's a functional, unpretentious place — the seafood on offer at lunchtime is whatever was landed that morning, and the prices are calibrated for locals rather than tourists. There's a covered market building at one end of the quay and a small marina beyond it.

The best time to visit is late morning when the fishing boats return and the port market sets up, or on summer evenings when the tables spread out across the quayside and stay full until late. The restaurants here specialise in trofie al pesto and pasta e fagioli, both local staples, and the fried fish is reliably good.
