Lungomare Imperia

The seafront promenade running between Porto Maurizio and Oneglia

The lungomare follows the coast between the two halves of Imperia, offering a walking route of about two kilometres between Porto Maurizio's marina and the Oneglia port. The beach here is pebbly rather than sandy — standard for this stretch of the Riviera — but the water is clear and the promenade itself is pleasant on summer evenings when the heat has left the stone.

Several beach clubs operate along the shore in summer, renting sunbeds and umbrellas in the Italian fashion. To the west, the promenade beneath Porto Maurizio's headland has a more residential feel, with locals walking dogs and older men playing cards at the tables set up along the wall. The Molo Lungo pier extends from Porto Maurizio's harbour, good for watching boats come and go and for views back up to the old quarter on the hill.
