The hillside shrine of Nostra Signora della Misericordia at the hamlet of Eremita is one of the more interesting religious sites in the valley. It was built over an earlier pagan temple and later renovated and enlarged during the baroque period, leaving it with a layered history that the exterior alone does not suggest.
The walk up to the sanctuary offers views over the upper Bormida valley and the chestnut-covered slopes that define this part of the Ligurian interior. The site remains an active place of local devotion.
