The Museo Perrando is Sassello's main museum, housed in a historic building in the town centre. The collection has three distinct sections: archaeological finds from the surrounding Apennine area (Bronze Age and Ligurian material), a significant collection of 17th- and 18th-century majolica from the ceramic workshops of nearby Savona and Albisola, and a gallery of paintings spanning the 16th to 20th centuries.
The ceramics collection is the strongest part — the Savona workshops produced faience of considerable quality during the 17th century, typically painted in blue and white with landscapes and mythological scenes. Worth an hour for anyone with an interest in Italian decorative arts.
