Parco del Beigua

The Parco del Beigua is a regional park covering the Ligurian Apennines above Sassello and the nearby coast, protecting a landscape of chestnut forests, heathland, streams, and rocky summits. Monte Beigua (1,287 m) is the highest point and accessible by a combination of road and trail.

The park is a good base for hiking — trails of varying difficulty cover most of the range, and the walking is pleasant in spring and autumn when the chestnuts are at their best. The area is known for birdwatching, particularly during migration: the ridge provides passage for raptors, storks, and other birds of prey in spring and autumn. A small visitor centre in Sassello provides maps and trail information.
