A small grid of carrugi — the narrow lanes typical of Ligurian fishing towns — runs back from the seafront. Houses are painted in the soft pinks and yellows of the Riviera, with the trompe-l'oeil windows and shutters that the locals call quadrature painted on flat walls. The lanes are mostly pedestrianised in summer.
The parish church of Santissima Annunziata, with its baroque interior, sits on the main square. The covered fish stalls open early; the daily catch lands at the small harbour and is on the menus by evening.
