The Castello di Uviglie is one of the most picturesque of Monferrato's many surviving castles, rising on a vine-covered hilltop a few kilometres outside Rosignano Monferrato. Built in 1322 and remodelled in the fifteenth century, it has been continuously inhabited and is now a working wine estate.
Tours include the formal garden, the family chapel, the old kitchens, and the vast underground cellars where the estate's Barbera and Grignolino age in barrel. Tastings on the terrace look out across the entire valley.
