Figline Valdarno Railway Station

Figline Valdarno railway station serves the town on the main Florence-Arezzo line, with frequent trains in both directions. Florence is about 35 minutes; Arezzo about 40 minutes. The station itself is a modest affair on the eastern edge of the town centre, easily reached on foot from the main square.

For visitors staying in Figline, the station makes day trips to Florence straightforward without the parking problems of driving to the city. The train also stops at other Valdarno towns including Incisa and San Giovanni Valdarno, both of which have their own medieval centres worth a look.

A story
The Florence-Arezzo railway line through the Valdarno was one of the earliest rail lines in Tuscany, built in the 1860s. It follows the Arno upstream through a valley that has been an important communications corridor since Roman times — the Via Cassia ran through the same terrain.
