The German military cemetery at the Futa Pass is one of the most sobering stops in the Alto Mugello. Its long stone walls and hillside setting make it feel less like a conventional cemetery and more like a piece of landscape architecture built for mourning.
Visit quietly and give it time. The site also helps explain why Firenzuola's wartime story matters: these passes were strategic ground, and the fighting here left deep marks on the surrounding villages.
