A small church on the south side of the Arno, easily overlooked but containing one of the great paintings of the Renaissance: Pontormo's Deposition (1525-28) in the Capponi Chapel. The intensity of colour and the compressed, swirling figures make it one of the most remarkable works of Florentine Mannerism.
