Kėdainiai Minaret

Freestanding Ottoman-style minaret by the railway station, built as a decorative war memorial.

The Kėdainiai Minaret is one of the town's stranger sights: a 25-metre Ottoman-style tower near the railway station, built without an attached mosque or Muslim congregation. General Eduard Totleben had it built to commemorate his service in the Russo-Turkish War.

It is not central, but the oddness is the appeal. If you arrive by train, it is an easy detour before walking into the old town.
