The Dead Dunes — also called the Gray Dunes or the Pyramidical Dunes — are one of the most striking sights in Neringa National Park. Unlike the forested dunes elsewhere on the peninsula, these are bare, wind-sculpted, and ghostly pale, which is how they earned the name.
They lie within the Nagliai Nature Reserve, a strictly protected area where independent access is not permitted. A marked tourist trail runs through the reserve, and there is a viewing platform from which you can see both the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea at once. Stay on the marked path — straying into the protected zone carries a fine.
The reserve entrance is on the main road just before the turn-off to Pervalka when coming from Juodkrantė, or the first stop after Pervalka if arriving from Nida.
