Marko's Towers are the ruined fortress walls on the rocky ridge above Prilep. The site is tied to the medieval ruler Prince Marko, but the older defensive value is obvious as soon as you start climbing: the hill is a natural stronghold of pale granite blocks, narrow gaps, and sudden viewpoints over the whole Pelagonia plain.
The walk up from town is the point. Bring water, wear shoes with grip, and give yourself time to wander around the boulders rather than treating it as a quick viewpoint. Late afternoon light is especially good, when the stone turns warm and Prilep spreads out below the towers.
