Treskavec Monastery stands high in the rocks north of Prilep, in a setting that feels far more remote than the map suggests. The monastery has been rebuilt after fire damage, but its mountain position, fresco fragments, and views across Pelagonia still make it one of the great short excursions in this part of North Macedonia.
You can reach Treskavec by road, but the classic approach is to hike from Prilep past Marko's Towers and through the granite hills. It is a serious half-day walk rather than a casual stroll, especially in summer heat, so start early and carry more water than you think you need.
