Paceville (pronounced PAH-chuh-vil) is Malta's main nightlife district, a compact grid of streets northeast of Spinola Bay that contains the island's highest density of clubs, bars, strip clubs, fast food outlets, and restaurants. On Thursday to Saturday nights it is where most of Malta under 35 goes out, alongside a substantial tourist population.
The district is unpretentious and genuinely energetic. Clubs range from small basement bars to larger venues with international DJs; the Bay Street complex has several options under one roof. The area is lively from around 10pm until well after dawn on weekends. It is also loud, crowded, and not improved by daylight, but as a place to experience Maltese nightlife it is authentic and accessible.
