This museum in Besalma, south of Comrat, is the strongest cultural stop in Gagauzia. It began in 1966 from the collecting work of local cultural figures and grew into a museum devoted to Gagauz history, language, dress, tools, and village life.
It is worth the detour because Gagauzia can otherwise feel hard to read from the road. The museum gives names and texture to the region's Turkic Orthodox identity before you return to Comrat's more ordinary streets.
