Domkirkeodden

Domkirkeodden is Hamar's must-see: a lakeside museum complex built around the ruins of the medieval cathedral destroyed in 1567. The ruins are protected by a striking glass structure, which turns the old stonework into something between an archaeological site and a concert hall.

The open-air museum adds farm buildings and regional history, but the real pleasure is the setting. Walk the paths by Mjosa, step into the glass-covered ruins, and let the mix of medieval Norway and modern architecture do the work.
