Norwegian Mining Museum

Town-centre museum on Kongsberg's mines, minting history, minerals, and silver wealth.

The Norwegian Mining Museum is the town-centre companion to the silver mines. Its collections explain how Kongsberg's ore was found, extracted, processed, and turned into wealth for the Danish-Norwegian crown.

The museum also covers the Royal Norwegian Mint and has mineral displays, including native silver. Visit before the mine tour if you want the technical background first, or after if the underground trip leaves you with questions.
