Skjellvika Beach

Skjellvika is one of the most popular beaches in Sandefjord municipality, a sheltered lagoon on the eastern side of the fjord where the water warms up noticeably in summer. The beach is sandy in parts and has a calm, shallow entry that makes it suitable for families with children.

Facilities are minimal — this is not a resort beach — but the natural setting is attractive. The lagoon is enclosed by low headlands and backed by trees, making it sheltered from the wind. In July and August it fills up on hot days; in spring and early autumn it is quiet. Access is by car from the town centre, about 15 minutes along the eastern shore of the fjord.
