Ogrodzieniec Castle is the headline ruin of the Polish Jura. Its walls climb over Janowski Mountain, with limestone teeth pushing through the courtyards and towers, so the fortress feels less built on the hill than fused to it. The present castle grew from a medieval stronghold and was later rebuilt as a grand Renaissance residence before wars and fire left it roofless.

You can walk the courtyards, climb viewpoints and look across the Eagle Nests landscape. It is busiest on summer weekends, when medieval shows and family attractions appear around the entrance, but the scale of the ruin still carries the visit.
