The Guido Mine is the centrepiece of Zabrze's industrial tourism and one of the most impressive underground experiences in Poland. A working coal mine from the 18th century until 1996, it has been converted into a museum with two levels open to visitors: level 170 metres (a general introduction to mining history and equipment) and level 320 metres (a more complete underground world, including a vast engine room and working exhibits).

The deeper level is the one to book. At 320 metres underground, you walk through tunnels that miners used for their entire working lives, past original machinery, through chambers that give a visceral sense of scale. The experience is not claustrophobic in the theme-park sense — this is real infrastructure, built for working men, not tourists, and it shows. Guided tours run at scheduled times; book ahead, especially for level 320.

A story
At level 320 metres, the underground concert hall — a former mining chamber with exceptional acoustics — hosts regular classical and jazz concerts. The audience sits in helmets 320 metres underground, surrounded by the machinery and coal seams where miners worked until 1996. It is one of the more unusual concert venues in Europe.
