Ermida de Nossa Senhora do Castelo

This small chapel stands on the hill where Coruche's castle once guarded the Sorraia plain. The castle itself has almost vanished, but the site still gives the town its best view: red roofs below, fields beyond, and the flat Ribatejo horizon stretching away.

The sanctuary is tied to Coruche's August festivities, when Nossa Senhora do Castelo becomes the focus of processions and local celebration. Outside festival time, come for the quiet and the view.
