Mirandela's old centre is modest, but it gives the town its texture. The lanes around Rua Dom Afonso III and the riverfront hold the tourist office, older houses, small squares, and the everyday life that makes the bridge more than a photo stop.
Don't expect a preserved museum town. This is a working inland city with a handsome core, best enjoyed as a short wander before crossing the Tua or sitting down for lunch.
