Quinta das Carvalhas is one of the strongest wine anchors in the municipality, a major Douro estate above the river near Pinhão. Tours here are as much about the landscape as the tasting: steep vineyard terraces, old vines, and the way the Douro folds around the hills.
It pairs well with São João da Pesqueira because the town gives the high-country context, while the quinta puts you down among the vines that make the region famous.
