Lagoa Verde is the green-toned half of the famous Sete Cidades lake pair, separated from Lagoa Azul by the bridge and framed by the steep walls of the volcanic crater. Seen from above, the colour contrast is one of São Miguel's classic images.
At lake level it is quieter and more intimate. Walk or cycle the shore if the weather is settled, then climb to Vista do Rei or another viewpoint to understand how the water, crater, village, and cloud all fit together.
