Boris and Gleb Monastery gives Dmitrov a second historic focus outside the kremlin enclosure. The monastery is tied to the early 16th-century flourishing of the town and remains a quiet Orthodox complex dedicated to the first Russian saints.
It is close enough to include on foot. The contrast with the kremlin is useful: one is civic and defensive, the other enclosed and devotional.
