Stalin's Dacha in Sochi is one of the more unsettling sights on the Black Sea coast: a green-painted residence in the wooded hills, preserved as a museum of Soviet power and private paranoia.
It is not a neutral house museum. The wax figure and memorabilia can feel lurid, but the setting, the rooms, and the simple fact of the place reveal a side of Sochi that beaches and Olympic venues do not.
