Colonnade Bridge

The Colonnade Bridge is Piešťany's signature piece of architecture, a covered pedestrian bridge over the Váh branch leading to Spa Island. Its clean 1930s lines make it feel lighter than most spa-town monuments, and the river views are a good introduction to the town's relaxed pace.

Cross it slowly rather than treating it as a shortcut. The bridge carries small shops and display panels, and it frames the transition from the everyday town centre to the more manicured world of baths, parks, and treatment houses on the island.

A story
The bridge is more than a crossing: it was designed as a ceremonial threshold between ordinary town life and the spa island. Its best-known sculpture, the crutch-breaking man, turns the idea of a cure into a piece of public theatre.
