Santa Eulàlia del Riu is the third-largest town on Ibiza, on the east coast about 15 km from Ibiza Town. It is quieter and more family-friendly than the island's party centres, with a pleasant hilltop church looking down over the old town and harbour.
The beach promenade is the heart of the town, running along the seafront past restaurants and shops. It connects to Platja des Canar and the smaller coves to the north. A pretty river walk follows the only river in the Balearic Islands inland to a restored Roman bridge.
On Wednesdays, the famous hippy market at Es Caná, just north of town, is one of the island's most popular attractions — a large open-air market selling crafts, clothing, and jewellery in a relaxed, bohemian atmosphere.
The beaches near Santa Eulàlia are generally quieter than those around Ibiza Town or San Antonio, making it a good base for families or anyone looking for a calmer side of the island.
