Palma Aquarium

Palma Aquarium sits at the Ca'n Pastilla end of Playa de Palma, just a short walk from the beach. Opened in 2007, it has grown into one of the most visited attractions in the Balearics, housing more than 700 species across a series of tanks that recreate habitats from the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean, and the Atlantic.

The highlight is the Big Blue, a vast shark tank with a walk-through tunnel — a reliably dramatic experience even if you have seen similar attractions elsewhere. The aquarium also has a dedicated adventure park section aimed at families, with rope courses and water features separate from the main marine exhibits. Plan at least two hours; it takes longer if you have children in tow.

A story
The aquarium's main tank holds 2.5 million litres of water and is home to eight shark species. A transparent tunnel runs through it so visitors walk among the fish — including sand tiger sharks that circle overhead.
