Comillas Cemetery is one of the town's most atmospheric sights, set inside the ruins of an old Gothic church on a hill above the sea. Its best-known image is the brooding angel sculpture by Josep Llimona, which gives the cemetery a theatrical, almost operatic presence.
It fits perfectly with Comillas' strange mix of medieval fragments, maritime views, and late-19th-century Catalan Modernista ambition. Visit after El Capricho and the Pontifical University, then walk out toward the headland; the cemetery is short on conventional museum content but strong on mood and setting.
