Collegiate Church of Santa Maria

The Collegiate Church of Santa Maria, built in the 16th and 17th centuries in Gothic-Renaissance transitional style, is the principal church of Ontinyent and the most significant architectural monument in the town. The façade combines pointed Gothic arches with Renaissance ornamental detail; the interior has a single nave of considerable height and several altarpieces from the 17th century.

The church stands at the edge of the old quarter, close to the base of the castle hill. It is usually open for visits in the morning and before evening Mass. The adjacent sacristy holds a small collection of ecclesiastical silver and medieval vestments that can be viewed on request.
