Playa Norte

The north beach stretches roughly 7 km from the base of the rock up toward Benicarló, making it one of the longer strands on the Costa del Azahar. The bulk of Peñíscola's resort hotels line this beach, so July and August bring serious crowds and sunbeds packed end to end. The northern end, well away from the old town, is noticeably quieter.

The water is clear and the bottom is sandy and gentle, which makes it good for families. There is a promenade running the length of the beach with the usual bars and ice cream stands. In the evening the light on the castle rock from the north beach is striking.
